The Ninth Aliguma Foundation Banda Slums Soccer Tournament has kicked off in style, captivating football lovers and uplifting the Acholi Quarters community. Since its grand opening on November 24, the tournament has been a fusion of electrifying football action and a bold environmental message.
Sixty teams, including women’s sides and children’s American football displays, have transformed the UEFA Foundation-enhanced Acholi Quarters Playground into a hub of sporting excellence and social change. Running under the theme "Reuse, Recycle, and Reduce," the tournament emphasizes sustainability, with recycled trophies symbolizing its green initiative.
Highlights So Far
Group A: AQ Galacticos have emerged as early frontrunners with a perfect record, including a thrilling 4-1 victory over Nakawa FC. Their form makes them favorites to clinch their first-ever title.
Group B: Defending champions Luigi FC are on a roll, securing three wins, including a 4-3 edge-of-the-seat triumph against Kawanga FC. They look poised for another deep run.
